Sankranti- Harvesting festival
Celebrated as the biggest festival of Andhra Pradesh, Sankranti is much celebrated in Konaseema, the Godavari region. Sankranti, the harvesting festival of the state will drench every folk in happiness and joy with bountiful of paddy.
Prabhala Teertham
It is celebrated in Konaseema region including Madanaplli, Gollavilli and Vadaparru in Uppalaguptam mandal, Ambajipeta, Machavaram and Thondavaram in Ambajipeta mandal, Madanapalli, Vanapalli in Kothapeta mandal and also other mandals in Konaseema.
In most regions of India, Sankranti festivities last for two to four days of which each day is celebrated with distinct names and rituals.
Day 1 – Maghi (preceded by Lohri), Bhogi Panduga.
Day 2 – Makara Sankranti, Pongal, Pedda Panduga, Uttarayana, Magh Bihu.
Day 3 – Mattu Pongal, Kanuma Panduga.
There is no festival.
