Antarvedi Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple

The Lakshmi Narasimha Temple is situated in Antarvedi town in Sakhinetpalle mandal of the Konaseema district, where Vasishta Godavari, a tributary of the River Godavari meets the Bay of Bengal. Built between the 15th and 16th centuries, this temple is dedicated to Sri Narasimha Swamy, one of the 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu. The temple entrance has Lord Garuda on one side and Lord Anjaneya on the other. One unique feature of this temple is that the main idol faces the west instead of the east. The roof of the sanctum sanctorum has a carving of Lord Krishna on a palm leaf and the magnanimous idol of Lord Narasimha stands tall with his consort Goddess Lakshmi sitting on his lap. Another interesting architectural feature here is the five-storeyed Vimana Gopuram. Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy kalyanam is celebrated here on the occasion of Bhisma Ekadashi and thousands of devotees gather here to witness the grand festivities.

Appanapalli Temple

The Appanapalli Temple is a prominent temple dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara and is located in Appanapalli town, in Konaseema district. Popularly known as the Sri Bala Balaji Temple, it was built by Shri Molleti Rama Swamy, a coconut merchant and an ardent devotee of Lord Venkateshwara. Folklore says that he would offer a part of his earnings to Lord Venkateshwara in Tirupati every year but once the priest declined his request to place the offering at Lord Balaji’s feet. Ramaswamy was disheartened but when Lord Balaji appeared in his dreams and consoled him, he also told him that he would make an appearance as Appanapalli or Bala Balaji, meaning child god. Ramaswamy placed idols of Lord Venkateshwara and goddess Padmavathi in his coconut shop. As days went by, many devotees started pouring in and this was the origin of the where the temple stands today.
