SSA(Samagra Shiksha Abiyaan)

Samagra Shiksha:

• Samagra Shiksha is an integrated Scheme and effort to universalize elementary education by community-owner ship of the school system. 

Objectives:

• Providing access to free education to all children up to the age of 14 years as stipulated in RTE act of 2009.
• Provision of quality education and enhancing learning outcomes of students; Bridging Social and Gender Gaps in School Education; Ensuring equity and inclusion at all levels of school Education; Ensuring minimum standards in schooling provisions; Promoting Vocationalization of Education; Building and infrastructure facility & other amenities to all the govt. and local body primary, upper primary and high schools/senior secondary meant for imparting education.

Departmental Activities : 

Access & Retention:

• RTE Act 2009 mandates that all the childrens in the age group of 6-14 years improving access to all the children a safe walking distance of 1 km for Primary School, 3 KM for an Upper Primary/ High School having classes VI to VIII.  Opening of new schools if schools are not located in or near the habitation where children reside school and along with up gradation of Existing Primary Schools into Upper Primary Schools.

Media & Community Mobilization:

• The Right to Education Act (RTE), 2009, specifically provides opportunity for every Child. Free Uniforms (Jaganna Vidya Kanuka ) and Media has an important role to play to disseminate the agenda of Samagra Shiksha through Community Mobilization.

• Quality is a more systemic trait rather than only a feature of instruction. There are:

Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV)

• It is for setting up residential schools for girls at upper primary level & Senior Secondary belonging to the SC, ST, OBC and minority communities.

Inclusive Education:

• The implementation of the Right to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009 for Identification of children with special needs (within the age group of 6-14 years). Providing Special Education to the Children with Special Needs by Trained IERPs at Bavitha Centers.

Civil Works:

• The Samagra Shiksha will be implementing to all Govt. Management Schools Additional Classrooms and Boys and Girls Toilets.

Brief notes on State Govt. schemes implemented:

Opening of New / Upgraded Schools:

• Universal access to education at all levels, Support for Infrastructure from Pre-Primary to 12th.
• Norms for opening new schools:Primary 01 km, Upper primary  03 km,  Secondary  05 km, Higher& Senior Sec.  07-10 km.

Residential Schools & Hostels:

• The Out of Schools Children in sparsely populated, or hilly and densely forested areas with difficult geographical areas where opening a new primary or upper primary school and Secondary/Senior Secondary schools may not be viable.

Access & Retention:

• Provision for transport / escort facility up to Secondary level (X Class) for children in remote   habitations   with   sparse population where opening of schools is unviable or where Gross Access Ratio is low.

Special Training for Out of School Children:

• Special Training for age appropriate admission of out of school children (OoSC) at Elementary level.

Jagananna Vidya Kanuka Scheme:

• The state govt. of Andhra Pradesh distributed these special JVK kits containing 7 items for students studying in all Government Management Schools.   3 Pair of Uniforms: Each student of class 1st to 10th will be provided 3 pairs of school uniform as per their fit size.

Parent Committees ( PCs)  :

• Parent Committees (Formerly Known as SMCs) were formed in all the eligible schools as per Right To Education Act 2009 in the District. Proper training and capacity building provided to Parent Committee members about their roles and responsibilities which is extremely critical towards ensuring their active and effective participation in planning, plan preparation, monitoring and supervision of the school level activities. 

Quality Education:

• The Samagra Shiksha is provided Quality Education to all Management of Govt. Schools in the Quality and Innovation Intervention, Foundational Literacy Numeracy (FL&N), Composite Grant, Strengthening of School libraries including purchase of books, Sports and Physical Education, Rastriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA), DIKSHA (National Teacher Platform), Training for In-Service Teacher and Head Teachers and Teacher Educators,  Academic support through BRC/CRC and Vocational Education.

Inclusive Education Provision for Children with Special Needs (CwSN):

• Provision for Children With Special Needs (CWSN) to ensure full equity and inclusion such that all students are able to thrive in the education system.  Providing support to the learning of children with disabilities, focus will be on early identification and support. Mapping of requirements of students with disabilities for participating fully in school education.

Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV):

• KGBVs  to  be  extended  up  to  Class  12th   for smooth  transition  of  girls  from  Elementary  to Senior Secondary. Orphans, Semi Orphans, Single parents children will also be given admission in these schools. Each KGBV can accommodate 200 Girl Children.

Self Defence Training for Girls:

• Training for 3 months for inculcating self-defence skills including life skill for self-protection and self-development to be renamed as ‘Rani Laxmibai Atma Raksha Prashikshan’. (Admissibility for Govt. Schools).
