Departmental Activities:

YSR Thotabadi/HRD (Human Resource Development)

  • YSR Thotabadi programmes are being conducting at field level to create awareness on cultivation of various Horticulture crops as well as to guide the farmers for effective control of pests and diseases including Rugose spiralling Whitefly on coconut for getting better yields. 

FPOs (Farmers producers Organization)

  • Strategy to formation of farmers into groups (FPOs).
  • Preparation of production/Business plan as per the demand in the District.
  • Implementation of recommended practices of inputs like usage of Bio fertilizers, organic fertilizers and Bio pesticides.
  • Mechanized Harvesting practices and post harvest measures viz, precooling, sorting, grading, packing etc.
  • Transportation, cold chain and value addition.

CDB (Coconut Board Development Schemes)

  • Coconut is major crop which is predominantly cultivating in the jurisdiction of Assistant Director of Horticulture-I, Amalapuram.
  • Approximately, the coconut crop is under cultivation in an extent of 44,663 Hect. in the Konaseema Region.
  • Coconut Area Expansion
  • Coconut Development Board is giving assistance to the Small & Marginal farmers for undertaking new planting of coconut and its further maintenance under the scheme Area expansion programme.

Laying out of Coconut Demonstration Plots:

  • The Laying out of Coconut Demonstration Plots (LODP) is being implementing with the financial assistance sponsored by the Coconut Development Board.
  • To reduce the use of Chemical fertilizers and inorganic, Bio Fertilizers and Bio Pesticides along with rising of inter crop and gap filling with quality coconut seedlings.
  • Under this scheme, the main objective in to increase the production / productivity of coconut by encouraging the farmer to adopt new technology for better management of the gardens.

Replanting & Rejuvenation Programme:

  • Rejuvenation & Replanting of coconut scheme is being implementing with the following objectives.
  • To increase production/productivity of coconut by cutting and removal of diseased /senile and un-economical trees.
  • Replanting with quality coconut seedlings limited to optimum plant population for getting higher yields.
  • Rejuvenation of existing gardens through integrated management practices.
  • The maximum subsidy of Rs.32,000/- will be provided for cutting and removal 32 No.of coconut trees per Ha./farmer @ Rs.1000/- per coconut tree.
  • The maximum subsidy of Rs. 4000/- will be provided for purchase of good quality Coconut seedlings for 100 nos per Hect / farmer @ Rs. 40/- per seedlings.
  • The maximum subsidy of Rs.17,500/- will be provided under Integrated management practice per Hect /farmer. The subsidy amount of Rs.17,500/- will be given in two years @ Rs.8750 in 1st and 2nd Year respectively.
  • A physical target of 500 Hect has been allotted under the scheme during 2020-21 identification of farmers is under progress.

APILIP-II (Development of Food Value Chain for Crop Coconut)

  • A total physical target of 1000 Hect to cover 1000 no.of farmers by providing subsidy of Rs.1008.93 lakhs has allotted for implementation of various schemes under Food Value Chain for Coconut – APILIP – II.
  • JICA (Japan Investment Corporation Agency) is the funding agency to implement the various Coconut based scheme to develop production and productivity, infrastructure development, value addition programs and processing units for development of coconut under APILIP – II from in the duration of 3 years.
  • All the schemes shall be implemented through (4) no.of FPOs /FPC’s shortlisted by the Pilot Project Implementation Consultancy (PPIC) as submitted hereunder.

RKVY  ( Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana)

  • Encouraging New area brought into cultivation with Sweet Orange under Crop Based area Expansion Programme.
  • Implementation of Integrated Pest Management / Nutrient Management for Sweet Orange to get additional / Quality Produce by controlling pets and Diseases.
  • Rejuvenation / Canopy Management of Sweet Orange old orchards for increasing the productivity.
  • Improvement of production and distribution of good quality hybrid vegetable seed / raising of vegetable seedlings under shade net nurseries to ensure availability of vegetables throughout the year and improvement of nutritional standards in rural areas.
  • Encouragement of structures like Pandals for quality production in case of creeper vegetables like Gourds etc.,
  • Encouragement of nurseries for cultivation of offseason / high value vegetables in Shade net houses.

MIDH – PHM – AIF – Establishment of Collection Centers:

  • Establishment of Collection Centers/Cold Rooms under Agriculture Infrastructure Fund(AIF) – MIDH – Post Harvest Management. The main object of the scheme is to conquer the price fluctuations in the market and to get profitable prices to their Horticulture produce including Coconut through value addition by the farming community who were integrated themselves and formed as FPO/FPCs to accomplish their required needs.

NFSM (National Food Security Mission – Oil Palm)

  • Encouraging New area brought into cultivation with Oil Palm under area Expansion Programme  through M/s Sarve Sai Edible Oils PVT LTD, Kapileswarapuram  in the Factory Zone allotted Mandals.

Success story of the department or any highlighted item, along with photos if available:

 Formation of FPOs/FPCs:
  • 11 Nos. of FPOs/FPCs have been formulated under RKVY/MIDH/CDB by Department of Horticulture with a main objective to encourage and establishment of Coconut based processing industries with value addition by providing subsidies to get maximum returns to the coconut  cultivating farmers by exporting the produce to the other states  from the jurisdiction of ADH-I, Amalapuram.
Minimal Processing Units:
  • (5) No.of Coconut Coir Based Rope Spinning/manufacturing units have been established in the mandals of P.Gannavaram and Ambajipeta so far. The units have been established under the component of Minimal Processing Units of MIDH in the jurisdiction of Assistant Director of Horticulture-I, Amalapuram. The total subsidy of Rs.43.22 lakhs has been released to the beneficiary’s bank accounts through online transfer on the total admissible cost of Rs.108.09 Lakhs.
Construction of Coconut Pack Houses:
  • The Scheme for Construction of Coconut Pack Houses have been introduced and 349 units were constructed by covering 349 No. of coconut cultivating farmers for the purpose of storage of de-husked coconuts for shade drying to produce Kuridi so that price of Rs. 3 to 4/- per nut will be increased as value addition to the farmers. In this regard, the total subsidy of Rs.6,74,90,122/- has been released to the beneficiaries bank accounts through online transfer. 
Establishment of Coir Cluster Unit 
  • The establishment of Amalapuram Coir Cluster Unit at Nedunuru (V), Ainavilli (M) by M/s Krushivala Coconut Farmers Producer Company Limited, Ambajipeta has been commenced with an aim to produce Coir Fiber, 2 Ply Yarn, Mats and Curled Coir with a main objective to start production of value added products, improve profitability of enterprises, create network for marketing with new value added products and generate employment to the rural un-employed youth. The total cost of project is Rs.384.58 Lakhs, Out of which, GOI Grant (Under NI MSME) of Rs.353.14 Lakhs and the remaining amount of Rs.31.44 is from SPV contribution.
